Thieves, we would like to thank those who attended this year’s Grey Event. The nights may have been quite cold, but the fire and Grey’s delicious pot roast warmed us all. The songs kept us jovial, and the little ones planted their magic beans and even learned how to sew!
For those asking if the Hidden Brothers met their fundraising goal, the answer, sadly, is no. In fact, the turnout was the lowest we have ever had; the planned auctions and raffles will have to wait until our next event. The wishful thought is that the low temperatures kept people away, but some of our past events have been colder. Please feel free to send a note with anything that may have kept you from attending. Be honest and don’t hold back, because the Hidden Brothers and their Council would like to address all of your concerns. We are hopeful that the Alley isn’t going to fade away.
Thieves’ Alley was created to be an escape – a welcoming place where everyone feels comfortable and included. The Alley has been home to gypsies, pirates, fairies, cowboys, Vikings, wizards, and many more. All were welcomed into the portal discovered by the Mudlark. Food, drink, songs, and stories have been shared with all who have been drawn to the Alley. Yes, there have been some changes, and attendees have been talking more and more about their non-Alley lives… the very thing that the portal allows us to forget. Thieves’ Alley is a huge part of many lives, and no one wants to see it become nothing more than a glorified costume party. The Brothers hope for the majesty and whimsy of the Alley to be restored in future events.
Again, thank you to everyone who has attended and contributed over the years; we appreciate you. Let’s make next year’s Spring event akin to the first.
